Dear MTV and Fans:
I am happy that MTV used last nights episode to display information for domestic violence, because i am sure out there, there are MANY people that can use that. What i do not understand is how they are not obligated to report this behavior of Amber;s to the authorities. A hospital is REQUIRED to inform local and civil entities when abuse occurs, so when its happening on National television why is nothing done? Instead it is bascially rewarded with a continued successful television show. I fully believe that Gary is and can be a able and terrific parent because this has been diplayed in times apart from Amber. HOwever, when Leah is with her or them together, quite often that child is ignored, neglected and subject to things that NO child ever should be. 9 years ago I was a teen mom, and i know and fully understand the financial, emotional and even the struggles of abuse. But i chose to mae my life different, to never allow my daughter to be tarnished with negativity and to make a life for her that she could be proud of. Clearly what happened last night was not just domestic violence, but assault, which is a CRIME and i feel as though there needs to be repercussions for that behavior. Amber on this after show says she needs help to get better, but all help starts with the willingness to HELP YOURSELF, otherwise no program in the world is going to be effective for you! I understand and sympathize with the struggles of her everyday life, the things that she has missed out on and the ones she will continue to go thru..However, that child did not ask to be born. And since she is displayed so much of the time as a burden to Amber, i believe Gary, whether he love Amber or not needs to PERMANENTLY remove that child from the situation or both as adults need to decide to give that child to a couple capable of her care and love. I do not discredit the fact that somewhere deep that Amber loves this child, I am sure that she does...but that does not make her able to mother, to parent, to teach and to learn. Someone has to be the voice in the situation, because really teens are going to get the wrong message that these behaviors are ok, and acceptable and often rewarded.
